African Case Studies Narratives and Documented Experiences
Case studies offer invaluable insights into others experiences. They give 'voice' to all; especially to those, whether because of race, gender, age, economically developing country, income status, rural location etc, who are often marginalised.
Moreover case studies whilst characteristically 'particular' i.e. reflect a specific context, provide an intimate link between local and global experiences. They serve to:
- improve understanding
- challenge assumptions
- widen boundaries to include previously excluded possibilities
- offer realistic examples of everyday life and intervention implementation (performance)
- inspire
In conjunction with Trevenen-Jones, c2cAfrica and CEEF.Africa JTJ Community Investment is building an African Case Study database. A combination of written, video and audio formats are been compiled - an on-going process which formally began in 2005. There are various case study categories, not necessarily mutually exclusive, which will appeal to individuals and communities; wider civil society socio-economic (including environment) initiatives; and good governance.
From time to time, case studies will be 'showcased' on this website.
